Former Kaya 959 Managing Director joins United Stations as Executive Commercial Partner, bringing fresh commercial energy to Kaya 959 and the wider United Stations portfolio.
For advertisers working to win attention, trust and relevance in Gauteng, the challenge is clear: audiences are more selective, budgets are under pressure, and brands need media partners who can do more than place schedules. They need ideas, cultural understanding and commercial impact.
United Stations is pleased to announce the appointment of respected media executive, radio strategist and cultural entrepreneur Greg Maloka as Executive Commercial Partner.
Maloka will be contracted through his company, Griza Enterprise, to United Stations, the specialist media sales house representing a portfolio of radio, audio and digital brands, including Kaya 959.
His role is to help advertisers unlock stronger, fresher and more effective ways to connect with Kaya 959’s influential Gauteng audience, while also supporting commercial opportunities across the broader United Stations portfolio.
For Kaya 959, this is also a meaningful homecoming. Maloka previously served as Managing Director of the station and played an important role in shaping its audience, commercial and cultural identity. Under his leadership, Kaya 959 strengthened its place as one of Gauteng’s most distinctive media brands, speaking to an urban audience that is sophisticated, influential, commercially active and deeply connected to the rhythm of the province.
His return comes at a moment of renewed momentum for Kaya 959. It follows the announcement that broadcasting heavyweight Thato Sikwane, better known as DJ Fresh, will join Kaya 959 as host of the station’s flagship weekday breakfast show from 1 July 2026.
Together, these appointments point to a confident new chapter for Kaya 959: stronger talent, sharper commercial ambition and a deeper commitment to helping advertisers show up meaningfully in the lives of Gauteng’s urban consumers.
As Executive Commercial Partner, Maloka will work with United Stations to build commercial partnerships, develop new revenue opportunities and create integrated solutions across platforms.
Dave Tiltmann, Acting Managing Executive at Kaya 959, says Maloka’s return adds both history and fresh energy.
“Greg understands Kaya 959, the audience and the role the station plays in Gauteng’s cultural and commercial life,” says Tiltmann. “His return strengthens our commercial focus at an important moment for the brand.”
For Maloka, the appointment is both personal and forward-looking.
“Kaya 959 has always had soul, rhythm and purpose,” says Maloka. “I am not coming back to look backwards. I am coming back to help build what comes next, and to help advertisers unlock the value of this powerful audience in fresh and credible ways.”
United Stations Managing Director Rivak Bunce says the appointment gives advertisers another senior partner in a fast-changing market.
“Advertisers are under real pressure to make every rand work harder,” says Bunce. “Greg brings unparalleled experience, credibility and cultural instinct. He will help us bring brands closer to the communities, conversations and commercial opportunities that matter.”
With DJ Fresh preparing to wake up Gauteng and Greg Maloka returning to help drive commercial growth through United Stations, Kaya 959 is entering a new era of influence.
For advertisers, the opportunity is simple and powerful: deeper connection, sharper ideas and more meaningful commercial impact in Gauteng.
