Smile FM’s Best Year of Your Life competition, in partnership with Futurelife, quickly captured listener attention. Over four weeks, listeners tuned in for the cue to call — a vuvuzela sound — with 120 Golden Tickets awarded across Smile 90.4 FM shows. Each winner secured a place at the live finale held on 21 February at the Century City Conference Centre.
Finalists competed in a series of elimination rounds, selecting Futurelife products each round — with those revealing a red sticker knocked out. Francois from Durbanville ultimately walked away with the grand prize: a full year of groceries, fuel, clothing, insurance, gym membership, takeaways and streaming, plus quarterly family holidays including a cruise.
The campaign generated an impressive 291,308 listener entries, demonstrating the power of radio-led competitions to drive sustained engagement.
